School: Cong Nghiep High School, Hoa Binh province
A team of students from Hoa Binh Province has developed a smart toilet system using Micro:bit technology to address common problems in school toilets: wastage of electricity and water, and illegal smoking.
Key features of the system:
- Motion-activated lights and ventilation: Sensors detect movement and activate lighting and ventilation only when the toilet is in use, reducing energy consumption.
- Smoke detection and alarm: Smoke sensors trigger an alarm in the toilets and send alerts to security and management personnel when cigarette smoke is detected, deterring illegal smoking and promoting a safe environment.
The smart toilet system has the potential to improve hygiene, conserve resources and create a safer and healthier learning environment for students in their school, and may inspire similar solutions in other educational institutions.
